Park Renewal Day 2010: A Big Success

Thanks for Another Great Park Renewal Day!

Congratulations to all of the teams who participated in the third annual Park Renewal Day on November 6 at Dearborn Park. The Ivy League team from the Midway Woods Neighborhood Association and the Decatur High Close Up Club tied for first place. Second place went to the P.I.G.S (People in Gloves Pulling Ivy Gleefully) from Decatur First United Methodist, and third place went to the Beast of the Brush team from the Academe of the Oaks. And, a big thank you to Mayor Bill Floyd and former Hawks player Mike Glenn for helping to judge the event.

Park Renewal Day is an annual competition in which teams uproot invasive plants in one of our local community parks to compete for prize money. Officials from DeKalb County and the City of Decatur judge the quality and quantity of work done to each group’s designated work space.
